for Children with Hearing Loss

About Us

The Shreemad Rajchandra Seva Kendra (Trust- E/16767) was constituted and registered as a non- governmental (NGO), non-profit, public charitable trust in 2004. Since its inception, it has been running the Umang School for Children with Hearing Loss. The Institute receives no aid from the state government, central government or the municipal corporation. It depends mainly on donations for its functioning.

Yet, it strives to provide quality holistic education, free of cost to hearing impaired children between the ages of 1 or 2 months to 18 years, living in and around Ahmedabad, irrespective of religion, caste or gender. It helps needy and deserving families by providing them with books and materials, uniforms, and transport. It has helped a large number of children by getting sponsorships for their hearing aids and education.

Language Kits

In 2007-2008, with the generous support from the International Deaf Children's Society, now called Deaf Children's Foundation, we developed a language kit - Help Your Child Learn, in English and Gujarati, to help parents and teachers work with deaf children. We are distributing these to parents of deaf children and organizations working with deaf children across the country.

A 2nd kit 'Help Your Child Learn – Part 2' sponsored by another very generous grant from the Deaf Children's Foundation has also been prepared. Currently we distribute it all over India free of cost to organizations working for deaf children and parents of children.

A similar third kit especially targeted for early intervention is in the process of getting ready. We hope we will be able to share it soon.
